The Agency is a Los Angeles based search firm that provides comprehensive recruiting services for legal organizations in Los Angeles, Orange County, the Bay Area, and Las Vegas. We staff all positions within a legal organization, including legal secretaries, paralegals, clerks, and attorneys (both associate and partner level). We conduct searches for full-time, permanent employees as well as contract / temporary employees and project teams.
The Agency Difference
At The Agency, we know law. Our principals began their careers in the legal field and have been providing staffing solutions to legal organizations for over a decade. With this experience comes a deep understanding of legal organizations and their unique needs, an understanding we leverage to ensure great outcomes for firms and candidates.
We know that the success of any legal organization, from both the firm and candidate perspectives, is heavily predicated on having the right people in the right places. We also know that in a field as specialized and nuanced as law, this is no easy task. That is why we go further when matching candidates with firms. For firms, we seek to ensure that the candidate is not only qualified for the job, but he/she will also uphold and enhance the firm’s unique culture. For candidates, we seek to understand their stories so the position we find is a fit beyond just basic job requirements and salary expectations — it is a fit with their lifestyles and long term career goals.
The Agency was founded in 2006 by Raunn Ross and Amy Goldware after Raunn and Amy noticed the legal industry was underserved by the then available recruiting options. Drawing on their respective experiences in the legal field, Raunn and Amy sought to create a different kind of search firm — one focused solely on understanding the needs of legal organizations and the candidates that worked for them.
This approach has led to many successful placements at premier legal organizations throughout Southern California, the Bay Area, and Las Vegas. We have helped many firms build their teams and have worked with many candidates to find the right opportunity to advance their careers. And while we may grow and seek to expand upon our success, we never plan to deviate from our core focus: being a trusted partner for those in the legal field.
Raunn Ross has over ten years of practical work experience as well as recruiting expertise in the Los Angeles legal community. Upon graduating with a B.S. in Economics from the United States Air Force Academy, he served six years as an active duty Air Force Officer. Upon exiting the Air Force, he entered law school at the University of Southern California and received his Juris Doctorate.
After clerking briefly, Raunn joined a prominent national legal staffing firm as an account executive in the Temporary Staffing Division where he began working with Amy Goldware. Raunn was instrumental in growing and establishing this team. In 2003, he joined Amy at a local boutique legal staffing firm and established a temporary placement division. In September 2006, Raunn became a founding principal of The Agency Legal Staffing.
Amy Goldware graduated with a B.A. in Pre-Law from the University of Arizona and received her Paralegal Certification from the University of West Los Angeles. She began her legal career as a litigation paralegal in 1993. In 1998, she joined an international recruitment and staffing firm as a direct-hire recruiter and, after only six months, was promoted to Division Director of the Direct Hire Placement Division. At the end of 2000, Amy was asked to run one of the company’s branch offices, where she successfully grew and established that office until joining a local boutique legal staffing firm in May of 2002 as a minority shareholder. She joined The Agency in January of 2007.
She brings years of practical experience as a paralegal coupled with the successful placement of hundreds of paralegal, secretarial and attorney professionals. Amy is well-known throughout the Los Angeles legal community for her high degree of professionalism and customer service.
David Gainer is a Recruiting Manager in our San Francisco office covering the entire Bay Area and Sacramento. He has over twelve years’ experience in the legal field as a clerk, paralegal, and attorney with various government and private institutions, including a major international law firm.
Following his six years as an attorney in two East Coast litigation boutiques, David joined a nationally recognized legal recruiting firm in 2014 and joined The Agency in November 2015. He draws upon his diverse previous practice, which included litigation, corporate work, foreclosures, and bankruptcy matters. David has a strong grasp of the California legal market and specializes in working with clients and candidates throughout the state for all types of legal roles.
Nelle Stang Nelle Stang has over seven years of work experience in a wide range of fields, including public relations, television production and visual effects, fashion and law. Upon graduating from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Nelle returned home to Los Angeles in 2010 where she undertook a number of challenging roles. For two years she worked at a well-known, prestigious bankruptcy firm in Los Angeles as a paralegal.
After leaving the legal field, she primarily worked in public relations, and spent time at several public relations firms, including Platinum Advisors, I/D Public Relations and most recently, The Lippin Group. In 2016, Nelle decided to return to her legal background and joined The Agency Legal Staffing.
Katrina M. Roehrig joined The Agency Legal Staffing in 2016. She is a 2012 graduate of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte where she obtained a B.B.A in Marketing. After graduation, she pursued fashion marketing by working as a marketing and fashion consultant at Charlotte Seen. Katrina later joined the sales management team at a national retail operation where she was responsible for sales at one of the busiest stores in North Carolina.
Due to her success, she was offered a position within the organization that brought her to California. In her new role, in addition to managing a personally selling and managing a sales team, Katrina became a training manager for fourteen store locations and trained all new store managers in the area’s fifteen stores. Katrina has demonstrated strong sales and leadership experience as well as a significant international background in education, work, and community relations.
Farheen comes to us as an Administrative Assistant and we enjoy her smiling personality on a daily basis.
Larisa Villa joined The Agency Legal Staffing in 2018. She has her BA in International Relations from Boston University and JD from Harvard Law School. She has over ten years’ experience in staffing and recruiting in the Bay Area and has worked on legal, creative and technical searches in agency, in-house and higher educational environments.
Notably, Larisa spent over seven years with a nationally-recognized, legal recruiting firm where she was promoted into a Team Lead role. She specializes in working with support staff candidates on temporary, temp-to-hire and direct hire placements. Larisa prides herself on her work ethic, professionalism and ability to “put the recruiting pieces” together for both candidates and clients.
